Capt. US Navy passed away in 1981 at the age of 55. He was Commanding Officer of USS Newport News CA-148 during the 3rd Vietnam tour. (Obit.)

Robert M. Leverone

Capt. USN (Ret.) passed away on September 9, 2009 at the age of 81. He was the Executive Officer on the USS Newport News CA-148 during the 3rd Vietnam tour. (Obit.)

Joseph E. Bonds III

Capt. USN (Ret) passed away 28 Aug 2011 aged 91. Was Commanding Officer of USS Newport News CA-148 August 1969 to 1971 (Obit.)

Dale Cox

HMC (Ret) served aboard USS Newport News during the '72 Vietnam tour and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries in the T-2 tragedy. Passed away Nov. 8, 2017 (Obit.)

Leland S. Anderson III

GMGSN, 2nd. Div., Turret 2, Reported to the Supreme Commander on 3/4/2021 at his home in Freeport, Maine (Obit)

Robert D. Traweek

Passed peacefully in his sleep on April 24, 2015. He was most proud of his deployment on the USS Newport News during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Woody Morrison

Passed away Jan. 28, 2021
Woody was an ET aboard the USS Newport News from 64 to 67.

Philip L. Taylor, Jr

Passed away on August 31, 2020 the age of 91. Enlisted in 1949 and boarded the USS Newport News while it was in Cuba on a shakedown.
