Where do I sign up for the work party?

Go to our "Work Party Information" web page, then click on the "Work party signup"

What if my family needs to contact me while I am there?

The USS Salem has a telephone on the After brow and Office. It is manned during working hours Friday thru Sunday. Call (617) 479-7900

Don't make your reservation directly with the Hotel. They might charge you their normal rates of $269.00 a night! Contact Al Siegel and get the room for $99.00 because you are part of the USS Newport News work party.

Sleeping on the USS Salem

We are in the process of arranging bunks on the Salem for the three nights of the work party for those of you that want to stay aboard.

You can sleep on the USS Salem for Free.
Just let Al Siegel know so he can make the arrangements.

For those of you staying on the Salem, remember to bring your own bedding, toiletries etc., and understand that there is no food service aboard, so bring your own snacks.

The United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum and USS Salem is located at 739 Washington Street in Quincy, Massachusetts, in the former Fore River Shipyard.

Work Party Tips.

1. Wear cloths that you don't mind getting dirty, torn or damaged.
2. Remember to bring work gloves.
3.  If you plan to go off on "exploring the ship", bring a flash light. Some of the rooms down below do not have lighting (or it is hard to find the light switch in the dark)
