I have a blanket from the ship that came to me when my Father past away. I also have one of his uniforms, a graduation program along with a picture of the entire graduating class,a newspaper article from the Navy paper and there are "yearbooks" from the Mediterranean Tour he was a part of.

My Father is Alvin G. Grant (Pug), from Toledo, Ohio. (He past away in 1996) His position on the ship was a Gunner's Mate, he departed the ship in 1958.

Ship's Plaque from the 1950s

As the Commandant's Local Representative at Port Everglades, my father (LCDR, USNR) was given a ship's plaque from the Newport News sometime in the 1950s. O'Farrell".His trailer was parked at the end of the pier where we tied up.He and Jeffrey Hunter came out of their trailers to visit with a bunch of us from NN.They shared a beer with a couple of us then decided to visit the ship.( 1966 or 67 not sure) 2.(2)photos of E Div berthing comp.(racks and lockers as they were)This may be of interest only because it's the very same compt.as NN museum and visitors can get perspective as they are standing on spot. 3.(2)photos of aircraft crane blown down on deck after premature fuse caused damage to stbd side,crane and hangar area during firing of T3 (sorry dont remember date) 4.Beautiful picture of NN from focsl aft used for color cover of magazine"The Navy in Tidewater" some damage to cover but still a beautiful glossy color cover.Donating whole intact magazine. 5.Family gram 65-66 sent to crewmembers'family by NN Capt.Robert Quinn shortly before change of command.(original or copy ? ) please advise. 6.original ( unspent )letter from C.O. authorizing me to spend $10.at the Ship's store as an award for something.
