Where old shipmates visit and share their experiences aboard 'Old Thunder'. To learn how to subscribe / unsubscribe, the guidelines of the list and other information, visit this section. This is the Main E-mail Mailing list for our shipmates and has over 900 members (Membership count as of April 2005. This list produces 5 to 15 emails a week. Any member of this mailing list can send email to the list. Guidelines for the list are strictly enforced)

The USS Newport News "All Hands" Newsletter (E-mail List)

This E-Mail Newsletter is sent out to former shipmates of the USS Newport News CA-148. The goals of this Newsletter are to keep USS Newport News Shipmates informed on subjects of - Reunion Information and updates - NN Web Site new or changed features - News of other related subjects of interest to the USS Newport News Ship and it’s crew. This is a LOW Volume mailing list producing about 1 email a month to it's 1100 members. (Membership count as of April 2005.  This list produces 8  to 10 emails a year.  Only the Newsletter Administrator can send email to members of this mailing list.)

USS Newport News Free Speech Mailing List (E-mail List)

The above two mailing lists (The Main Mailing list and the Email Newsletter) have very strict rules, and are ONLY for topics of the USS Newport News. Some shipmates have a desire to share their views on politics, religion, current affairs, share jokes. Basically, do and say what ever they wish to do. This is a "NO RULES" - High Volume mailing list where anything goes. Not for the "faint-of-heart"! (Membership of 53 shipmates as of June 2002. This list produces 30 to 50 emails a DAY. Any member of this mailing list can send email to the list.)

The USS Newport News Association Snail Mail List (U.S. Postal Service)

This is a mailing list sent through the U.S. Postal Service (snail mail) instead of using E-Mail. Each October before a reunion, members on this mailing list will receive information about the upcoming reunion and the forms needed to register for the Reunion. This U.S. Postal Service mailing list may also be used at other times when it is needed to reach a large number of shipmates on other important matters. Because it cost a couple of thousand dollars to send out one mailing, we use this method of contacting our shipmates on the average of once a year. This mailing list has about 2,000 members (Membership count as of April 2005)
