Information about the
painting,
the artist and ordering instructions
We have a large assortment of talents
among the crewmembers of the USS Newport News. One of those talented
shipmates is David Brownstead. Dave is a professional artist who was
stationed on the USS Newport News from August 1970 to November 1973 as a RM3
in the CR Division.
All of you who have been on the USS
Newport News emailing list for a while will remember the first painting David Brownstead created for his shipmates during the summer of 2002
and then the second painting in the summer of 2003. The
paintings were both enjoyed and purchased by many of our membership. This is
Dave's third painting of the USS Newport News and will make a great
match if you already own either of the first two prints.
This picture is entitled,
"Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of
All Who Threaten it." and represents
the importance our ship had in keeping the peace during her 26 years of
service.
Dave said, "The concept I used this time
was for the idea of her and her crew, patrolling the seas, keeping the
peace, being ready for whatever action might be needed at any given time.
This concept of readiness to defend our way of life seems especially
appropriate given the current state of world affairs."
If
you would like one of these prints, make sure you reserve it soon. Even
if you are not ready to make your purchase right now, go ahead and fill out
the below form so that Dave can get an Idea of how many prints to have his
printer make up. If you want one of these prints, but can't afford it right
now, let Dave know and he will hold one for you. The main thing right now is
for Dave to get an idea of how many prints to have made.
If you have questions about the picture, or need to make
special arrangements when purchasing one of these prints, contact David Brownstead at
